    Hugs and kisses my loves

I've got a ton of new links to share with you all my beloveds. Actually I have such a large amount of things to share that the concept of it all is beyond overwhelming.

First though I shall share some of the fabulousness that is the gallery. Art Whino had an awesome show on the 13th of December, if you are local to the DC metropolitan area you should check it out, as I always say, we are located in National Harbor. So, anyway, get a gander at some of the photos I took of the event.

This is Jason Snyder and his fabulously lovely and humorous wife. And three of the skateboards he painted, I love how they are all half faces, I was thinking about purchasing the devil, but I have a backlog of art I need to pay for already, so I'm not going to make any investments until I get my funds in order :( You can sort of see the beginning of this show, and no don't ask me why I took this shot in front of our industrial door fronted bathroom. (At least they are blocking the water fountain!)

DJ Mikel Panda was spinning alongside one of Brandon Hill's (ps that link isn't his site but they have some cool shots of pieces from his last show here)pieces (I love Brandon, I do not doubt you will see him in this blog often, his pieces are just awesome) And yes, I abuse parentheses.

Some of Jason's pieces. He framed them himself (I <3 framers), and he restored the black antique frame around the paranoia piece. You can check out some better shots of them at Art Whino's website.

The day of the show James Walker also dropped off some photography. I friggen love James Walker, don't even get me started, people come in the gallery asking about his work and I go on and on about it and he's such a nice guy and I wish I was a decent photographer/painter/anything (practice practice practice!). If I could buy everything he made, I absolutely would, no doubt about it.

His photos are on the small wall to the left of the photo. He has a ton more, and this photo does not do his work justice, as per usual.
Here is Kelsey pouting in front of one of his paintings. I think everyone is sick of the fact that I love taking photos of the people who work at the gallery as much as the visitors.

Thats it on the gallery for now! Come out and see the delightfulness that is Art Whino!

and yes, I did just c&p that from facebook. So, the show should obviously be awesome. I know that you can tell this just by looking at it. I know you can. I have faith in you.

Later today we'll have a roundup of my favorite prints (including an awesome Audrey Kawasaki that goes on sale this weekend I think), a few looks that i like or have questions about, and photography finds.

Speaking of photography, why is it so hard to get B&W 120mm processed. I just want to know whats on my damn lomos!! I spoke with Shane (owner of ArtWhino, aka Bossman) and he suggested Chrome Imaging, (whom I love dearly), but I don't feel like driving into DC for 12 images. Motophoto will process 120mm color, and I suspect DigipixArt will as well (btw they are really quite awesome people to work with, their processing services are fabulous, I send my dad there all the time (yeah I need to work on his website so badly). Anyway, speak to you soon!

    So, not done

But testing a new layout and logo. Unfortunately I'm both not as good at webdesign as I want to be, and infinitely lazy, I simply do not feel like fixing those rounders. Heh. I'll probably end up doing it, but I won't be happy about it. Not happy at all. Have loads of new images to put up taken from the Block Party last night, but I need to get dressed and go to a job interview, so that is priority. I'll be back later. In the meantime, here is a teaser.

    OnTap Magazine Photos

Leah and I got alot of shots of us on OnTap Magazine online.

    Wow its been crazy

So, its been an interesting weekend. Leah and I went to the Art Whino preview show last night in georgetown. The artist, Daniel Fleres was awesome, actually everyone was awesome. We met Shane, the owner of Art Whino, him and his delicious 'QUEENS' shoes, and Miguel of SoulT3ec video, photography, and webdesign. Leah and I got our photos taken by the photographer from On Tap magazine, and once they go online, I'll link them. We met a few of Shane's incredibly creative and consistantly humble artists, everyone was so nice and talkative, and one of them, Alicia, had this fabulous hat that apparently she got in Austin Texas, Austin rocks. I had wanted to ask if she was down there for SXSW, but I think someone distracted us and it was all down hill from there. So, while we were out there, the deluge began. Leah was on the phone with her boyfriend Ben and couldn't hear him inside, so she had to stand outside, and of course, me being the chatty crazy that I am ended up talking to everyone who came close to me. I also ended up buying a piece! Its called Devil/Angel by Daniel Fleres. It called to me, it was like, you need buy me, I'm a missing part of you and the art that makes you happy. I of course agreed, and now I'm the happy owner of Devil/Angel. So, afterwards, went to the bar, had a shot and some beer, then hung out late night elsewhere. I woke up this morning thinking, this is going to be a blah, hurricane-style day with torrential rains. About 1.5hrs into work, my boss attempted to not compensate me for my hours properly, and proceeded to be rude about it, and if you know me, you know I've been dealing with her attitude problems and rudeness and derogatory issues for -months- now, so I quit. I'm now free as a bird and looking for part time work so I can focus on school. Yay school. More credits! I hope the rest of the weekend goes this swimmingly.

Leah, Alicia (the artist of the works behind us), and I. I look so frumpy!

    I love DC Art News

I already had been planning on attending this, but it just reinforces my interest when it catches Lenny Campello's eye. Art Whino, which had already found a warm and fuzzy place in my heart after their glorious Inked Soles show,
is now having a show focused on reevaluating what art should be, ie, attainable, with numerous small blocks of work. There are 11 artists, though one is doing a live painting on friday night at the adidas store in georgetown. I'm so there, and I'm bringing Leah with me. I might even convince her to write for this blog as I change it up some, it could use her design perspective.

    Art Whino - Inked Souls

So we got a chance to go up to the Art Whino - Inked Souls show in National Harbor MD last night. Unfortunately I didn't get to stay as long as I had hoped, but the show was a hit. The pieces were vibrant, great, and stunningly expressive, and I got to see pieces from some shows I had missed. I met a seriously cool artist named Shawn Huddleston who if I remember correctly is based out of Reston (reston is very much nearby me). Anyway, very personable guy and I like his work. He basically introduced himself by saying, "I see you are taking pictures, did you see those pieces over there? They are pretty cool" in regards to his work, which is definitely pretty cool. I have his pieces in my web gallery.

I only wish I had brought my own camera, I felt guilty using Leah's so I didn't get all the names I would have liked to identify the pieces, once I do get the names though I'll update the gallery.
